Thanks for visiting MelanieRoe.com.au; allow me to introduce myself. The online space and I have been working together for over fourteen years, and we've developed quite a bond. I have a strong background in marketing and love all elements of digital, but am particularly skilled in product management, eCommerce, mobile and creating seamless yet purposeful customer journeys. That's what I'm really passionate about.
On a side note, and in case you were wondering (which I'm sure you were!), I also have a penchant for Instagram, fitness, hats, pop culture, melody and travel. My weaknesses? Cheese, whisky, karaoke, and tracking down good coffee and new restaurants... But, I digress...
I graduated with a Bachelor of Business degree, majoring in Management and Marketing, at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia. I started my digital career in Brisbane, where I lived until 2011 when I packed up and moved to Melbourne.
Moving to Melbourne opened doors to new opportunities in high profile national companies, progressing my career and development. Naturally, I grabbed these with both hands and along the way made some fabulous lifelong friends, having some great Instagram-worthy adventures. In February 2016 I moved to San Francisco, thanks to winning a Greencard in the annual lottery (Yes! It actually happens!), and I couldn't be happier with my decision and the fabulous people I've met along the way. Bring on the next phase, and here's to the "Say 'Yes' To Every Opportunity" mantra!
PLACES & SPACES
ME, MYSELF & I
Brisbane, Australia (to 2011)
I was born in Brisbane, living there until 2011. There I graduated university and developed my digital and eCommerce skills at an iconic Queensland brand, at a time when mainstream digital was only beginning. So, I had a great opportunity to learn everything from the ground up, trying new things and being part of the changing consumer landscape. I contributed to the growth of the state's interactive industry, volunteering for AIMIA (Australian Interactive Media Industry Association).
Melbourne, Australia (2011 - 2016)
I lived in Melbourne from 2011 to 2016. I took the leap and moved interstate, to take on new challenges. I achieved all my goals, which included working for a young startup company, an online retailer with highly specific localised markets, and a large top-tier corporate. Each proved to be worthwhile, not only to strengthen my career skills, but also to increase my ability to work many different types of people. I delivered great results through a wide range of projects.
San Francisco, USA (from 2016)
With a valid permanent working visa in hand, I moved to San Francisco in February 2016 and was soon offered a senior product role at one of the world's leading retailers (and, a fave brand of mine), Sephora. It has been a huge learning curve, and I'm so fortunate to be surrounded by passionate, intelligent, and generous co-workers.
